Is diploma in chemical engineering a good option to get a job?

The answer is simply "yes". Diploma in chemical engineering provides you multiple job opportunities, the scope is so broad that you can be employed in as little as a plastic materials production company to as big as a petro-chemical industry or petroleum refining industry. 

Hence the job is almost guaranteed after passing the diploma if you have gone through the concepts well (especially Fluid Mechanics, Heat and Mass Transfer Operations) and have proficient communication skills.

You will start as a plant operator who is responsible for maintaining basic process parameters, analysing samples, making a record of that and observing plant maintenance etc. If you work sincerely you may be promoted up to an engineer level, some small scale companies may also promote you up to managerial level.

But most of your job duration will pass through rotating shifts and sometimes it may be so hectic that you even may not be able to sleep properly as continuous shifts are fixed one after another at eight hours of interval i.e. the time gap between two shifts. Your relieving that is off from the duty depend on your reliever because you can not leave your work station vacant. One person has to be present at the work station twenty four by seven as most of the plants run continuously for months. If your reliever does not approach at the work station you have to compensate for his/her work. And that extra work also referred to as overtime (O.T.) may be granted you in the form of extra payment or extra off/holiday.

On an average the salary Rs.15000 to Rs.20000 is expected at the beginning and it may go up to 60k to 70k depending upon your company and work experience in a span of 7-10 years as per recent scenario but yes the work is proportionate absolutely.
